Buick has announced today that the all-new 2013 Verano Turbo would be fitted with a 2L Ecotec turbocharged and direct-injected engine producing 250 horsepower.
First estimations indicated over 90% of the power will be available between 1,700 and 5,500 rpm, and the car will reach 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.
In last December, the same Ecotec engine was named one of the 10 best engines of the year by the WardsAuto World magazine. Editor in chief Drew Winter says its power and sophistication levels redefines Buick.
The decision to use smaller but turbocharged engine to increase power in the Veranofalls into the brand's strategy to reduce engine sizes with compromising power outputs.
The Verano Turbo will be available later this year, with a choice of 6-speed automatic or manual gearboxes. No news yet on fuel consumption ratings or sale prices.
